Before getting to the news and notes, there will be another “Interrogation” article published on the day before Christmas and that means your questions will be answered.  Whatever questions have poured in from the previous “Interrogation” through Festivus will be a part of the article so ask away on Twitter or in an article’s comment area.

Onto the news…

C.J. Roberts Transferred out of Missouri

Freshman Point Guard C.J. Roberts transferred out of MissouriRoberts had Georgia in his Top Six in his recruitment.

Roberts had yet to see the floor thus far for Cuonzo Martin’s Tigers as he is Redshirting.

Should Michael Porter Jr. come back?

Mark Price was fired by Charlotte

Mark Price was fired early in his third season at Charlotte, which is a VERY quick hook for the former NBA All-Star sharpshooter.  What’s next for Price is unknown, but the search for a coach at Charlotte begins early.

Charlotte, UTEP and East Carolina are all looking for Head Coaches already after Price’s firing and the resignations of Tim Floyd and Jeff Lebo.  This is a very strange trend.

A popular graduate transfer possibility across the country may be East Carolina’s Isaac Fleming.  However, his metrics offer many caveats notably his poor shooting from three point range, volume shooting and averaging 3.1 turnovers per game this season.

Fleming was on the stellar 2015-16 Hawai’i Team that knocked off Cuonzo Martin’s California Bears in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Everything is still in limbo at Auburn

Eligibility, Bruce Pearl’s status and the overall season for the Auburn Tigers still hangs in the balance as new developments are awaited.  Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy are still not eligible to play yet.  Wiley is a projected late First Round 2018 NBA Draft Pick, he’s not LiAngelo Ball, he can command at least $350,000 to play overseas before he gets to hug Adam Silver on the night of the Summer Solstice.

Purifoy does not have this same luxury, he needs to show what he can do on the college level in order to get anyone interested.

Auburn faces Middle Tennessee State in Birmingham, which will be a very tough test.  The Blue Raiders went to Nashville and won at Vanderbilt and whipped Ole Miss in Murfreesboro.  Kermit Davis’ crew is looking to go 3-for-3 against the SEC on Saturday.  Alabama discarded and misused Nick King last season and now he’s averaging 24.3 points per game for a red hot team that should be dancing in March.  Can Auburn pull this one off without Wiley and Purifoy?

Rayshaun Hammonds Fell a Bit on the 2019 NBA Draft Boards

Rayshaun Hammonds was a projected Top 10 pick on NBA Draft Boards for 2019, which is looking rather far ahead.  However, Hammonds is now considered a late First Round pick in 2019.  Stronger performances from Hammonds will push him up the board again.

SEC Basketball Scheduling Police Need to Talk to Mississippi State

How can Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt have such tough out-of-conference schedules while Mississippi State’s schedule is so soft?  Mississippi State was undefeated going into their game with Cincinnati and was disemboweled 65-50.  Cincinnati is really good team, but Mississippi State had only ONE opportunity to show that they belong on their out-of-conference schedule.  The Dogs blew it badly and it will be factored in if they even get into NCAA Tournament consideration.

They have not taken down too many cupcakes – they are living on sheet cakes.  The next sugar crash will be on January 2 against Arkansas.
